Solar Project Engineer
Job Summary:
On pace for another record year, our operation is growing and we are looking for a Project Engineer to add to our team. In this hybrid role that is both customer-facing and behind the scenes, every day will be different. You will be responsible for analyzing and designing residential solar projects for customers throughout the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. You are a primary driver of all projects from contract signing to installation.
Responsibilities:
As a Solar Project Engineer, you will:
- Design preliminary plans utilizing information collected remotely
- Conduct onsite assessments to develop comprehensive solar designs including equipment layouts, site plans, structural drawings, and electrical schematics
- Communicate with customers/clients on their project status and answer any questions they might have
- Interact with members of our internal teams, engineers, and contractors to help keep projects on schedule
- Utilize various software programs to aid in design and communication
- Approximately 50% of the time you will be in the field and 50% you will be expected to work in our Burlington office each week. This is not a remote job.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent preferred. Ideal candidates will have an Engineering background (either mechanical or electrical)
- Minimum 3 years experience. Must be familiar with principles of building construction and/or electrical systems. Direct experience in solar industry is preferred
- Must have a valid driver's license
- Will be expected to work varying hours
- Will be expected to work outdoors year-round, in both hot and cold climates
- Must be able to carry up to 50lbs and maneuver a ladder
- Must be able to crawl, kneel, bend, twist in attics, basements and crawl spaces
- Knowledge of popular operating systems and programs; especially Microsoft Excel, Word, and Adobe Acrobat Pro. AutoCAD and other design software are a plus.
- Positive, self-motivated, and flexible
- Customer-focused; Customer service experience a plus
- Skilled communicator--both verbal and written
- Problem solver/Critical thinker
- Strong math skills
