Topping the clean energy news this week was:

• NEO Energy, a New Hampshire-based company, has plans to build small power plants in Massachusetts and Rhode Island that would generate electricity by burning gas emitted by rotting food. 
• The New York Times featured a piece that discussed how advanced energy storage technology will help decrease the power-flow issues associated with some renewable energy sources.   
• In a letter to the editor, Sue Reid, director of the Conservation Law Foundation of Massachusetts, asked Boston Globe readers to consider both direct and indirect costs when comparing different energy sources. 
• U.S. defense contractor Lockheed Martin announced that it will be moving into the waste-to-fuel gasification business after creating a deal with California-based waste to fuel company Concord Blue.
