The Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MassCEC) provides a suite of options for business owners looking to incorporate clean energy technologies at their facilities, but MassCEC isn’t the only resource.  Our partners such as Mass Save, the Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources and federal U.S. agencies also offer programs to help you adopt clean energy solutions at your business.

Clean Heating and Cooling

MassCEC offers grants to businesses for eligible Clean Heating and Cooling projects in the Commonwealth, including ground-source heat pumps, wood heating systems and solar hot water. These technologies can help businesses save money on heating and cooling bills, while reducing greenhouse gas emissions and maintaining a high level of comfort and reliability.

Solar Electricity

Solar electricity can save Massachusetts businesses money on their energy bills through reduced electric costs.

Hydropower

MassCEC's Hydropower program provides grants to businesses (for-profit or non-profit) for eligible projects to upgrade their hydroelectric systems.

Organics-to-Energy

Organics-to-Energy projects transform certain types of waste – including food, animal waste and yard waste – into renewable electricity or heat. MassCEC's Commonwealth Organics-to-Energy program provides funding for eligible projects from interested businesses or government entities in Massachusetts.

Wind Energy Projects

MassCEC's Commonwealth Wind Program assists businesses in Massachusetts that are interested in wind energy development, by providing grant funding and technical assistance.

Business Energy Investment Tax Credit

Under the federal tax code, the Business Energy Investment Tax Credit offers incentives for businesses that invest in a variety of renewable energy projects, including solar PV, solar hot water, ground-source (“geothermal”) heat pumps, fuel cells, small wind, and other technologies. The tax credit ranges from 10% to 26%, depending on the technology and year of installation.
