Topping the clean energy news this week was:

• A guest post in Scientific American discussed how smart grids and energy efficiency retrofits offer different values for energy efficient buildings and electric systems, and how both systems are strongest when implemented together.

• The Boston Business Journal featured an article about the emerging water industry in Massachusetts, and all of the innovation surrounding that sector. 

• State Rep. Tackey Chan, D-Quincy, has proposed legislation that would double the fines for utility companies that do not maintain that state-imposed standards for every day service. 

• The Solar Energy Industries Association released a new report detailing how to create over 50,000 new American jobs and save more than $61 billion in future energy costs by expanding the use of innovative solar heating and cooling systems across the country.
