Topping the clean energy news this week was:

• Governor Deval Patrick touted the clean energy job growth across the Commonwealth in an op-ed in the New Bedford Standard Times.
• Energy and Environmental Affairs Secretary Rick Sullivan cited solar power as being vital to the growth of the renewable energy industry in Massachusetts.
• The Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems announced the development of a multi-junction photovoltaic cell with 44.7 percent efficiency, breaking its own record of 43.6 percent that was set just four months prior.
• Leasing electric vehicles may offer savings for consumers, due to new decreases in vehicle prices, gas savings, and potential tax incentives.
• A consultant's report, commissioned by Massachusetts officials, indicates that the state's main solar energy subsidy will cost residential electricity rate payers an average of $1 to $1.50 a month over the next three decades.
