A Solarizing Success

With just a couple weeks left before the deadline, communities participants in the latest round of the Solarize Mass are making a final push ensure as many residents and businesses can lock in discounted rates for solar electric systems.

Solarize Mass, now in its fourth year, is a partnership between MassCEC, the Department of Energy Resources, solar installers, municipalities and volunteers across the Commonwealth working together to increase the adoption of solar electricity through a tiered pricing structure. As more people sign up, the savings increase for everyone!

To help make their case to homeowners, the team from Solarize Salem-Swampscott recently shared a video of an installation made as part of the program at the Swampscott home of Mike and Ellen Garvey.

The time-lapse video shows the installation process and ends with a shot of the Garveys' electric meter actually running in reverse, earning the homeowners credits on their electric bill!

The video shows a Solarizing success like the ones we're seeing from Adams to Wellfleet - so far, nearly 450 home and business owners in the 15 participating communities have signed contracts to take control of their energy futures and save money at the same time. Many communities, like Salem and Swampscott, have already reached the lowest tier of pricing.

With the June 30 deadline just around the corner, we know those numbers are going to shoot up even higher, as more and more residents see the benefits of Letting the Light Shine In!
