An Intern Milestone

During MassCEC's recent Student Clean Energy Symposium held at Boston University, state Energy and Environmental Affairs Secretary Matthew Beaton announced that our Clean Energy Internship Program crossed an exciting milestone - it has placed over 1,000 interns clean energy companies across the Commonwealth!

In fact, the 1,000th intern herself - Kristina Volovich, a junior at Boston University interning at Wegowise - was on hand for the announcement, which kicked off a day-long learning experience for students interested in the clean energy field.

Students were able to learn about clean energy fields experiencing tremendous growth via several panels led by esteemed industry experts on topics including solar energy, water innovation technology and big data. Panels focused on the importance of these emerging fields, discussions of what skills will be necessary for an individual looking to build a successful career, and provided an outlet for students to learn, ask detailed questions, and discuss amongst themselves the merits of pursuing a career in clean energy.

Following these panel discussions, students were then able to meet with several dozen clean energy employers at a career fair, organized to allow students to network and identify a company that would be an ideal match for an internship in the upcoming summer 2015 session, which just recently opened for applications and runs from June through August.

Interested students and employers can find additional information on this award-winning program, which provides funding for clean energy companies that hire students and recent graduates for internships, through the Internship Program webpage.

Since launching in 2011, the internship program has been a hit among students and clean energy companies and the numbers just keep growing.

It may not be long until we're celebrating our 2,000th intern!
