Massachusetts Companies Recognized in Global Cleantech 100
The 2015 Global Cleantech 100, an annual compilation of the most innovative private cleantech companies across the world, was announced recently, and Massachusetts is again well-represented.
Eight Massachusetts-based cleantech companies made the cut this year—for comparison, the United Kingdom had seven companies on the list, and Germany had five. In fact, the only U.S. state with more organizations on the list than Massachusetts was California.
The Massachusetts-based companies that made this year’s Global Cleantech 100 are:
The organizations on list represent Boston, Lexington, Bedford, Woburn, Chelmsford and Waltham. Combined, they cover a wide range of the clean energy spectrum, from energy-efficient lighting to organic waste management to environmentally-friendly flame-retardant plastics, to name a few.
MassCEC is proud to have worked with several of these companies before. Digital Lumens was selected in 2011 to provide its LED-based intelligent lighting for MassCEC’s Wind Technology Testing Center. Harvest Power, FirstFuel and NBD Nano have all been recipients of MassCEC grants, and they have clearly gone on to stand out within the global clean energy industry.
As Massachusetts continues to be recognized as a pioneer in clean energy and water technology, we hope to see the representation of the Commonwealth on this list, and others like it, keep growing in future years.
For now, some people may say “quality over quantity,” but in Massachusetts, we’re delighted to say that we have both covered.
