Clean Peak Standards (CPS) are being implemented or considered by several states, as a way to focus renewable generation at peak demand hours. Energy storage is expected to play a major role in these efforts. In this webinar, Lon Huber, who has consulted with numerous state governors and energy officials on CPS, will discuss the role of storage and how some states are approaching storage in the CPS.

America’s cities are becoming significant demand drivers for renewable sector growth and investment.

Buoyed by aggressive climate action plans and overwhelming public support for clean energy, cities have increasingly committed to high penetrations of renewables to power their municipal operations and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Today, 86 cities have pledged to transition to 100 percent renewable energy. As demand grows, America’s local leaders look to lessons learned from the C&I sector and other large off-takers as they seek to procure renewables at-scale both within and outside of city limits.

This quarterly State of the Industry webinar will showcase recent successes, as well as highlight a new multi-city effort announced in June designed to aggregate cities’ demand and jointly contract for utility-scale projects. It will also feature a quarterly Market Update from BNEF, as well as our regular policy update.

In 2015 the Baker-Polito Administration announced a two-phase, $10-million-dollar Energy Storage Initiative. Phase II included funding for energy storage demonstration projects via the Advancing Commonwealth Energy Storage (ACES) program.  The Massachusetts Clean Energy Center and (MassCEC) and the Department of Energy Resources awarded funding for 26 demonstration projects. Many of these projects included Solar and Storage.  Kavita Ravi – Director of Emerging Markets – will provide an update on the program and projects underway.

The ACES program is the beginning of a new revolution in how power will be delivered and used in the near future. Shane O’Quinn Autogrid’s Senior Director of Strategic Accounts will provide us an overview of how the future of solar/storage and other distributed assets will be balanced to meet the supply and demand of electricity in real time. Autogrid’s Energy Internet applications allows utilities, electricity retailers, renewable energy project developers and energy service providers to deliver clean, affordable and reliable energy in a distributed energy world.

Join the Clean Energy States Alliance as they explore two new resilient power projects implemented in Boulder, Colorado. Over the past two years, the City of Boulder has been collaborating with stakeholders to strengthen the resilience of community facilities through deployment of solar and battery storage technologies. These innovative projects support critical operations at the City’s public housing authority headquarters, Boulder Housing Partners (BHP), and at the leading nonprofit mobility service provider in the Boulder area, Via Mobility Services.
