This year’s Renewable Energy Policy Forum takes place as seismic developments in national and global policies are reshaping the renewable energy marketplace. In December, Congress enacted a major new tax package offering long-sought stability to the wind and solar power industries. Just two weeks earlier, 129 nations at the COP21 meetings in Paris reached agreement on an unprecedented global effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Taken together, these developments are a source of immense promise for the future of renewable energy in the U.S. and around the world.

But important challenges remain. The wind power industry faces a steep phase-down of its tax credit, losing 20 percent of the credit value in 2017, and an additional 20 percent for the two years that follow. Other renewable technologies, including geothermal, hydro and biomass, secured a tax credit extension only through 2016, and will need quick action from Congress to keep their incentives in place. Meanwhile, the Clean Power Plan moves to the critical implementation stage, with states working on their compliance plans even as legal challenges work their way through the courts. With tax credits phasing down just as the deadlines for most ambitious emission reductions come into force, the Clean Energy Incentive Program, a promising but uncertain new element of the Clean Power Plan, may have a critical role to play.

Join ACORE on March 16-17 for an in-depth analyses of these important policies and the critical challenges that lie ahead!

IncubateMass - Program Background

MassCEC’s IncubateMass program was established in 2013 in response to the growing number of incubators in Massachusetts and the need for increased development and support of incubation space for cleantech and water innovation startup companies. MassCEC created the IncubateMass program to provide support to incubators that work with clean energy and water innovation startups on a competitive basis, tying funding to performance metrics.

IncubateMass - FAQ

While it is required to report paid employees, both full time and part time, what about employees or founders who have been compensated with equity?

If the employee is working for the company in any capacity, even for equity, they must be reported in the employee figures. While overall employee payroll must be reported, the amount of equity being paid to employees does not.

Should applicant responses be formatted as tables like those provided, presented in narrative form, or both?

According to Wikipedia, Urban Resiliency is the “capability to prepare for, respond to, and recover from significant multi-hazard threats with minimum damage to public safety and health, the economy, and security of a given urban area”.

With climate change, flooding, and potential food and drinking water shortages, there can be a heightened sense of uncertainty and unpredictability for governments and urban planners. Among the trending remedies for dealing with this state of flux as the “new normal” is the concept of “resiliency and adaption”. This concept stresses that community infrastructure needs to be flexible and redundant, and that government and community leaders embrace adaptive learning to effectively deal with and manage such contemporary crises.

Panel will focus on the business and market opportunities for entrepreneurial clean tech and energy companies in Massachusetts.

  • Keven Dutt, Founder and CEO, Rainbank
