According to Wikipedia, Urban Resiliency is the “capability to prepare for, respond to, and recover from significant multi-hazard threats with minimum damage to public safety and health, the economy, and security of a given urban area”.
With climate change, flooding, and potential food and drinking water shortages, there can be a heightened sense of uncertainty and unpredictability for governments and urban planners. Among the trending remedies for dealing with this state of flux as the “new normal” is the concept of “resiliency and adaption”. This concept stresses that community infrastructure needs to be flexible and redundant, and that government and community leaders embrace adaptive learning to effectively deal with and manage such contemporary crises.
