Innovator

MassCEC acts as a connector between established and startup clean energy companies, investors, strategic corporate partners and large energy users in Massachusetts.

MassCEC supports local incubators, business accelerator competitions and other resources, job training, networking events and provides seed investments for technology companies.

Seed Investments

The Seed Investments Program is a two-stage investment program that provides up to $250,000 in convertible notes to pre-seed or seed-stage clean energy startups. The program exists to support companies as they advance and commercialize clean energy technologies and business models.

The predecessor to the Seed Investments Program was the AccelerateMass program, through which twelve clean energy startups were supported between 2015-2019.

This program is currently OPEN.

IncubateMass

The IncubateMass Program provides funding to Massachusetts incubators with the goal of growing the clean energy innovation ecosystem and commercializing cleantech startups through incubator membership. This funding supports incubator activities, including but not limited to operations and management expenses, facilities and infrastructure build-outs, equipment purchases, networking events and workshops, growing strategic clusters, and professional development of incubator staff, among others as needed by incubator demand.

AmplifyMass

AmplifyMass provides funding of up to $300,000 for academic or company projects pursuing cost share or adders for a federal/non-federal prime award (such as awards from ARPA-E, NSF, DOE, and USABC), as well as funding of up to $100,000 for academic projects that are not tied directly to a prime grant. In these cases, projects must aim to commercialize or substantially de-risk an innovation that falls within MassCEC’s mission.
