Since 2011, the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs and the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center have convened the Massachusetts Fisheries Working Group (FWG) on Offshore Wind Energy to discuss fisheries issues. While the working group is voluntary and informal, it provides a critically important forum for maintaining a dialogue with key stakeholders, getting fishing industry feedback and guidance, and identifying issues and concerns for the federal agencies leading the offshore wind leasing and permitting effort.

Black Earth Compost has a growing presence throughout the region as a collector of residential and commercial food waste (meal scraps, bones, meat, dairy, napkins) and yard waste. By diverting compostable materials from landfills and incinerators, they are able to process and return valuable nutrients to farms and backyard gardens. Learn about the basics of composting and how Black Earth has tailored its model to meet the needs of broad array of retail, commercial and municipal interests, including some of the largest companies and towns in the area.
