Of the top 100 ranked venture capital firms in the world, women made up a mere 7% of partners and represent less than 10% of the overall venture capital workforce. In one of many events inspired by WE BOS Week, the NEVCA and TiE Boston have come together to curate a dynamic panel of women who have launched a career in venture capital and to share how they navigate the sector. Just as the industry is now discussing how to narrow the gender funding gap, we will bring together women who are changing the face of venture capital.

The Central Massachusetts Business Environmental Network (CMBEN) in partnership with the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce present Reducing Facility Operating Costs and Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions.

• Michael DiBara, MassDEP, Amy Barad, MA Clean Energy Center and Will Lauwers, MA DOER will highlight their clean energy partnership and energy-saving programs.
• James May, National Grid and Nathan Audette, Eversource will cover Mass save® energy efficiency incentives for commercial and industrial customers.
• Lauren Mattison of UMass Amherst’s Center for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy will give a presentation on the available resources to improve energy efficiency and achieve cost savings at facilities.

Join the Clean Energy States Alliance as they explore two new resilient power projects implemented in Boulder, Colorado. Over the past two years, the City of Boulder has been collaborating with stakeholders to strengthen the resilience of community facilities through deployment of solar and battery storage technologies. These innovative projects support critical operations at the City’s public housing authority headquarters, Boulder Housing Partners (BHP), and at the leading nonprofit mobility service provider in the Boulder area, Via Mobility Services.

Clean Peak Standards (CPS) are being implemented or considered by several states, as a way to focus renewable generation at peak demand hours. Energy storage is expected to play a major role in these efforts. Join the Clean Energy States Alliance for this webinar with Lon Huber, who has consulted with numerous state governors and energy officials on CPS, will discuss the role of storage and how some states are approaching storage in the CPS.

The Interconnections Seam Study (“Seams Study”) is an analysis that points the way toward the ultimate integration of the U.S. power grid, which will provide consumers with access to lower-cost, more reliable, and cleaner electricity. Join Americans for a Clean Energy Grid (ACEG) to discuss the implications of this study.

Rob Gramlich, ACEG Board Member, will moderate a discussion of the study’s findings with members of the study’s Research Team and Technical Review Committee, and additional panelists will weigh in with their commentary on why expanding the grid is critical for consumer savings, electricity sector decarbonization, and increased reliability.

Join the Association of Energy Engineers' New England Chapter at their Technical Round Table about Energy Efficiency and Cannabis Cultivation Facilities. Cannabis cultivation has very intensive energy use requirements - energy costs for cultivators are often 20-40% of operating costs. The Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission oversees a working group of state agencies to help develop best practices regarding energy efficiency and resource usage.  The state and this new industry will need the expertise of the energy design and engineering community. To that end, AEENE has assembled exhibitors specific to cannabis facility operations and a slate of presenters with direct experience and expertise in engineering.

Carbon pricing mechanisms have been implemented in 45 countries and more than 25 subnational jurisdictions, but these schemes presently account for only 20% of global greenhouse gas emissions. Pressure to meet the targets set forth in the Paris Agreement has reignited interest in exploring emissions trading systems, carbon taxation, or carbon fee and dividend mechanisms at the State and Federal levels.

This EBC Climate Change program will cover the economic principles and policy design fundamentals that inform effective carbon pricing schemes, provide an industry perspective on such regulation, and comment on the effectiveness and transferability of a university-wide carbon charge system after a full year of implementation. Additionally, State Senator Mike Barrett will make remarks on carbon pricing and the bill he introduced to create a revenue-neutral carbon charge and rebate system for Massachusetts.

This program – bringing together academic, industry, and governmental experts – will be of interest to those actively working on carbon management as well as those interested in developing a better understanding of what is seen by many as an increasingly promising response to the impacts of climate change.
