Solarize Mass WCGW - consisting of the Western Massachusetts communities of Windsor, Cummington, Goshen and Worthington - successfully completed their 2016 Solarize Mass campaign resulting in residents contracting for over 766 kilowatts of solar capacity! As part of the program, the communities partnered with the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center, Department of Energy Resources, and the installer SunBug Solar. Their efforts resulted in residents in the four communities contracting a total of 90 systems, doubling the number of small-scale solar projects installed prior to the program. Through the hard work of Solarize Mass volunteers and the SunBug team, Solarize Mass WCGW surpassed the highest pricing tier, resulting in the lowest possible prices for all customers. “Sunbug was excellent to work with, as was MassCEC, said Worthington resident John B.”
By choosing to go solar, the 90 residents elected to lower their utility bills and will collectively reduce carbon emissions equivalent to removing 65 cars off the road annually. Marcia C. from Worthington praised the Solarize program, saying, ‘We would not have been able to realize our dream of solar power were it not for this program and its financial incentives.” Over a year after this project’s completion, a Cummington family was “very pleased with the system on the impact it is having on e-bills and carbon footprint.” Congratulations to all the partners for a job well done!
