Lincoln Historical House
Location:
Lincoln, Massachusetts
Technology:
Solar PV

Located next to the Library, in the heart of Lincoln’s historical district, this 1879 house is keeping its historical façade with a modern twist: a rooftop array of solar panels. Lincoln’s Historical Commission approved the 5-killowat array in part because the steepness of the roof makes the panels hard to spot from the road.

The system was installed in early 2018 as part of the Solarize Mass Plus Lincoln-Sudbury-Wayland program, managed by the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center and carried out with the support of local volunteers. SolarFlair received the contract to provide a reduced-cost, group purchasing program to residents of Lincoln, Sudbury, and Wayland for the duration of the program. SolarFlair and many Lincolnites attended the Historical Commission meetings to support the homeowner and this solar installation. “It’s great that the Historical Commission is open to making history and moving forward” said Belinda Gingrich, a Lincoln solar coach.
