The Gould Farm biomass district energy system is up and running! Located in the Berkshires on a 700 acre working farm, Gould Farm is a residential psychiatric rehabilitation program dedicated to helping adults with mental health and related challenges move toward recovery, health, and greater independence. Thanks to grants from the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center, the Department of Energy Resources, and the Department of Agricultural Resources, Gould Farm updated its old outdoor hydronic wood boiler to a new wood-chip boiler that will heat nine of its buildings. The new boiler dramatically reduces emissions, cuts biomass fuel consumption, and eliminates the use of over 2,500 gallons of oil each year.
